				With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.
Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres.
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables at home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.
But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;
As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain,
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.

..... I Was watching the dawn service which was taking place on the Gold Coast & was pleased to see so many children at the service , I think it is great for the children to be involved to be able to understand all about Anzac .

				I was likewise happy to see large numbers of families with children this morning, especially considering it's usually hovering around freezing at 4am this time of year.

				Proud to read about the massive turnout in Brisbane, apparently they had to set up a simulcast in King George Square. As soon as the kids are old enough I will take them down to experience it.
Hope everyone is having a quiet rum this morning (used up the last little bit of my 1994 Bundaberg Black)

				Listening on the Radio the other day, that corporal who recently won the Victoria Cross was mentioning the greater turn out of young people at Anzac day each year. Really good to see the next generations are also learning and understanding.

Spot on Doreen

  My 9 year old daughter made her daddy very proud by marching with him every year. He carried her in his arms the first 2 years of her life.
He would bursting at the seams with pride because she now marches to honour him and her great grand fathers.
We now have 3 beautiful souls from our family who proudly fought for our country residing in heaven
