Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has had trouble with manual gearbox change from 5th gear back to 4th and 3rd. When travelling uphill in 5th, I cannot select 4th or 3rd gear. I have to either go back to 5th gear, which almost stalls due to lack of speed or have to try to force/crunch it into 2nd gear. Had it back to Kelly Mitsubishi at Cardiff NSW, but they are unable to fault it. They said they have adjusted a few things and changed gearbox oil, which has made no difference. This problem doesn't always occur,(usually when engine cold or when travelled in 5th gear for long periods ie out on open roads coming back into traffic), but I am worried another car is going rear end the lancer as it almost comes to a halt until I can get a gear.

Sounds like a real pain, I probably wouldn't take it back to Kelly Mitsubishi and get someone else to look at it. If they find something can take it back to Kelly and show them where they may have made a mistake and fix it at their expense. Do you have any mods? Depending on the age of your car most things should still be under warranty.

Lancer is still under warranty. With regard to taking it to Klosters....I have had mixed feedback about their service..I suppose weighing it up..Kellys haven't been of much use anyhow. It hasn't had any mods done to the gearbox.

Give it a go - best that will happen is they find and fix problem during warranty.
Worst that will happen is they won't find the problem.

Well....this week a brand new gearbox arrived from Mitsubishi and was fitted under warranty. Kellys found metal shavings in the gearbox oil. When gearbox was dismantled they found that 3rd and 5th gear syncros were pitted. Car back on road and very happy...Thankyou to Kellys

Good job. How many km's did your car do before the gearbox packed it in?
