Definitely without contention the more coats you apply the degree of difficulty of removal reduces substantially - it won't tear apart as easily and can be removed in a single attempt. 
I recommend you don't skimp on application if you plan to remove it later, it will save you a HEAP of time!

Definitely the more layers the better! It also smoothed out the computer and texture with more layers added
